I guess the “Too drawn out” reviewer and I will have to agree to disagree on this one. This was "the worst book by this author". It quite possibly might be the best. Actually, I have read every book in this series (as well as her other series) and have loved every one. As far as the reviewer's comment “the end is expected” goes I am not sure what would be unexpected. I am pretty sure the author is not going to off her lead character in a bestselling series. I was still holding my breath (no pun intended) throughout the entire book. Also, the reference to “so many repeated memories from previous books” by the other reviewer is puzzling to me. There are not that many memories and the ones that are included are not just taken “from previous books”. Of course, they are memories from the same characters so they may be about similar occurrences in their lifetime but each memory provides new information or insight about the person or event. I like to think of it like a layer cake where each memory adds another wonderful layer to the characters we have come to know and love through the previous 9 books of the series. As a stand-alone novel these memories are critical in order for the new reader to understand each character and for those of us eagerly devouring every book in this series they add even greater insight into people we have come to know and love.I absolutely love Dawn Lee McKenna’s characters – both human and animal – and in this book she has a unique and interesting way of developing each one separately from the others. I have to admire/like/love at least one character in a book or I won’t read it. Life is too short to read a book I don’t like. I can honestly say that it is too hard for me to pick who it would be if I had to pick just one to have a café con leche with. Oh and I would really love to meet Stoopid! You will not be able to put this book down. I read it in two sittings and would have read it in one but alas life intervened. Happy reading!

Five stars and more expresses how exciting investigative story really is. The descriptive adventures of Maggie's new adventure really caught me by surprise, but , as always, the storylines continued to keep me glued to see how she survived. I have been a follower of this wonderful, and heartwarming series since book one. Too, the sequence of characters was a little different in this new adventure.I was unable to set this story aside until the final word had passed. There was definitely a lot of worked went into the development of this amazing dialogue and the entire book is one exciting event after another. I definitely recommend this book, and series to all readers, regardless of your normal reading habit. I felt the compassion, and dedication, if all those involved throughout the entire story. Please do yourself a favor and read this heartwarming adventure, as you will most definitely be as impressed ad I was!

Best book of the series, IMHO. A lot of character insight throughout. Everyone’s thoughts, feelings, and behaviors felt to true to humankind, not just writers tricks. Highly recommended, even if you haven’t read any of the earlier books. Dawn Lee McKenna ‘s writing brings me into the lives of her characters in a way no other author has. And I read... a lot. Looking forward to many more visits with the good folks in Apalachicola.

I have read all Dawn Lee's books as I read them in one day, can't hardly put them down. This one was as excellent as the first one. Great plot, development of characters, easy reading. I recommend all the Forgotten Florida series. If you haven't read them, do it now! You rock Dawn! Can't wait until the next installment! Thank you!

I was so thrilled once Overboard dropped onto my Kindle (preordered), I started reading almost immediately and stayed up reading until 3:00 a.m. I put my Kindle down only because I couldn't hold my eyes open any longer and almost felt guilty for leaving the book when I did. It felt like I was leaving Maggie all alone in her predicament. As soon as I woke up, I started reading again and soon finished the book. Ms. McKenna has stated she thinks this is her best book in the series and maybe it is, but I've enjoyed every book she's written and always look forward to the next one. Thank you, Ms. McKenna for yet another great book! I was thoroughly entertained and can't wait to see what happens next to Maggie and Wyatt and the rest of their friends and family. And poor old Stoopid, of course.

Ms. McKenna said that this is her favorite of all the books. It's my least favorite by far. I love this series. I have read every one of the books in the series, and until the last couple, have thoroughly enjoyed them. Not this book.Overboard is BORING. I probably skipped over 50% or more of the book. Another poster said it reminded her of the Magnum PI episode where Magnum is lost at sea and the other characters look for him. All the while Magnum and his friends are reminiscing about times spent together in flashbacks. That is exactly what this book did. Maggie is floating in the Gulf, lost at sea, and the ENTIRE book is everyone (including Maggie) remembering scenes from the other books.I've also grown weary of the unreasonable and unfounded animosity that Wyatt and Gray feel toward Bennett Boudreaux, Maggie's biological father. It's childish and churlish. Let's all grow up, shall we?I hope that in the future Ms. McKenna will give us more Bennett Boudreaux and Miss Evangeline. Lately, they're the only characters in the series that I actually like and respect.
